Hitler Youth Flak Helpers uniform
An excellent and all original Hitler Youth Flak Helpers blouse with matching field cap. While the youth of Germany were still playing with toys, they were being indoctrinated into the Nazi ideology, including service to the Reich. Hitler Youth personnel served in jobs to free up men for military service. These jobs included; postal & message delivery, fire fighting, farming, and air-raid protection. 1942 saw increased Allied air raids on Germany the Hitler Youth arm of the Luftwaffe was formed to man Anti-Aircraft weapons. Activated in January 1943, HJ personnel who had reached the age of fifteen were to "volunteer" for auxiliary service in the Luftwaffe until they were called up for military service at the age of eighteen. Service could be performed in any branch of the Luftwaffe but most served in the air-raid defense units. The majority of the personnel to serve as flak helpers were recruited from the "Flieger-HJ", the Flying-formation of the HJ. By June of 1943 Hitler Youth Flak Hilfern uniforms and insignia were authorized for wear.
This blouse, all original with a rare pair of bevo weave numbered slip on shoulder straps and Luftwaffe flakhilfern breast triangle, is in excellent condition and comes with a matching equally nice and well marked and tagged HJ field cap.
