SS Porcelain Allach Leuchter No.56
White porcelain candle holder by Allach, 1 3/4" x 2 1/2"., listed as "Leuchter No. 56". Designed by artist Franz Nagy and introduced in 1936. The base of bears the stylized "SS" runes utilize by Allach as a manufacturer's mark as well as the company name and the incised model number "56". Fine, with no chips or damage.
The porcelain factory Porzellan Manufaktur Allach was established in 1935 and in 1936 the factory was acquired by Heinrich Himmler to produce works of art that would represent, in Himmler's eyes, true Germanic culture. Production was based at Allach, the largest sub-camp of Dachau, and used camp inmate labor in the production of these pieces.
A unique and poignant piece of IIIrd Reich history.
