Superbly detailed XIXth Corps, 176th NY Corps Badge
Excellent detail on this named badge stands out even among other wartime corps badges. Harry A. Rosewig enlisted from Brooklyn at age 18 and records show he was captured 6/23/1863 at Brashear City, LA and later Paroled. The unit history notes “During June 1863, detachments of
the regiment participated in the skirmishes at Pattersonville, La. and Brashier City.” The 176th Infantry “Ironsides” Regiment was formed December 22, 1862 and served in the defense of New Orleans, in the Department of the South and Georgia 19th Corps, and mustered out April 27, 1866, at Savannah, GA.
