78th Penn. Officer's MOLLUS Medal Excellent and undamaged Military Order of the Loyal Legion medal number 9558 mounted on a worn period ribbon. Number attributed to Captain John M. Brinker of the 78th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. Brinker enlisted from Penn. in August 1861 when he organized and Captained the 78th P.V.I. Fighting with the regiment at Stones River, Chickamauga, and other engagents, he mustered out in Nov. of 1864. Captain Brinker died in Buffalo, NY in 1903.
