Great War 37th Division Silver Star

Sergeant Ralph E. Faust served
with Co. A, 135th MGBN,
37th Division and hailed from Youngstown, Ohio. Faust joined the Ohio
National Guard June 8, 1915. He was part of Company A, 10th Infantry
that became Company A of the 135th Machine Gun Battalion when they
were Federalized and was discharged on April 12,
1919 as a Sergeant. He had Mexican Border service and was overseas
with the AEF from June 15, 1918 until March 25, 1919.
This group includes his officially
engraved Silver Star marked BBB & Co, Phila, and numbered
5554 wotj box, his 3 bar WW1 Victory Medal with
Ypres-Lys, Meuse Argonne and Defensive Sector bars, Mexican
Border medal # 35508 with its box marked "The Joseph Meyer
Company 8-29-28 attributed to Faust, his WW1 Mahoning County, Ohio
service
medal, a Verdun medal, and part of the shipping box for the
Silver Star. Research verifies his award, he did not earn
a Purple Heart.
