Posthumously awarded Cavalry officer's Legion of Merit
Colonel Frank O. Dewey was awarded the Legion of Merit for service in 1943 when he was instrumental in the building of the now well known Officer's Candidate School.
Colonel Dewey did not live to see his award, he died when the aircraft he was passenger in crashed in the Pacific.
